Dorothy Engelman has been producing content for television, print and the web for over 35 years. On television she has produced information and documentary programming for CBC, CTV and TVO. She has won a World Animation Gold Medal, a Banff Film Festival Award and the Marketing Innovation Award for her series CTV Innovating Tomorrow. She is co-founder and Senior Partner at q media solutions. q media creates programming, commercials and integrated content for companies like HSBC, Microsoft, Dell, Direct Energy, and Scotiabank; media companies like CTV, BNN, TVO and the Globe and Mail; health care organizations like the Ministry of Health, Health Canada Infoway, and SickKids as well as working with a network of NFPs and charites. Dorothy’s work for both the private and NFP sector led to the development of GetInvolved. This 100 part prime-time TVO series features activists, innovators and social entrepreneurs. She lead the development of a companion website, getinvolved.ca, to transform inspiration into action by matching organizations and individuals who want to make a difference.In January of 2010 Getinvolved launched a national campaign: The Power of the Hour – to rally Canadians and raise 2,000,000 volunteer hours. Working in partnership with 22 leading members of Volunteer Canada's Corporate Council on Volunteering, Power of the Hour surpassed its goal and hit 3.3 million hours in April. Dorothy’s belief in the power of social media to make change lead her to the production of Digital U, a TV series exploring the intersection of social media and social change. Dorothy is a volunteer - she coaches her daughter’s youth girls basketball, sits on the Board of Directors of Wellspring, donates her time pro bono to many of her NFP clients. In December of 2010 she was selected as one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in the Trailblazing category, as well she has spoken on philanthropy, CSR and social media at a number of conferences.

Established a long-format animation company in partnership with Cuppa Coffee's Adam Shaheen.Worked with Nickelodeon US and created the award-winning "Adventures of Sam Digital in the 21st Century. Developed properties for animated children's series in partnership with US and UK broadcasters.

Worked with Co-Director Kari Cullen on the development of a foundation for TVO to raise money for Children's Programming. Established the legal structure and launched in Partnership with Finance, Fundraising and Marketing and Development.

Worked with Elwy Yost on the 20th Anniversary of Saturday Night at the Movies.Worked with Lianna Crouch, Stan Lipsey and Daniel Richler on Imprint.Created 2 one hour book specials on the Commonwealth Book Prize and the Mystery fictions annual Bouchercon festival. Featured Interviews with Alice Munro, Walter Mosley, David Malouf and more.

Worked with Peter Herrndorff on a change management initiative to foster better communication and processes at TVO. Also worked as the Interim Director of Communications from 1993-94.

Worked as a freelancer covering TIFF and the International Authors festival.
