I loved having my photography business for 3 years and getting to take pictures for so many families, not just my own girls. When I launched it as a business in 2016, I had no idea that my husband and I would start our own financial planning firm in 2017. I loved both sides! I am so thankful for the time I spent with each family and hope that I gave them a fun session and photos that they will treasure for a long time. I'm also really proud that I got to be the wedding photographer for 3 of my friends. It is a high-pressure environment and time-consuming work, and I'm so thankful that I got to experience it and be proud of the outcome.I am letting my photography business go so that I can focus more on our firm and quit trying to "balance" both. Even though financial planning is quite a bit different from photography, it uses both sides of me in a similar way. I love the social part of the client meetings and really hearing their backgrounds and goals, while also getting to use my very detail-oriented, analytical side while coming up with financial plans that work for them. Since Tripp and I are the owners, I have gotten to fine-tune so many different skills...website design, bookkeeping, blogging, etc. Our girls have gotten to see the hard work that goes into starting a business from scratch and even got to help us take some pictures for our first print ad.I look forward to being the photographer for my own family going forward, with my favorite part being fall family pics for Christmas cards.
