Profile bio

About Doug Avery

Skilled in software industry methodologies, with a focus on entertainment and game production. I most recently worked as a Senior Quality Assurance Tester at NCSoft, working on the AION series of MMO products. AION is a special beast that required weekly maintenance to keep the product fresh and exciting for our players. What this meant is my team and I were running mini dev cycles every week to make sure our updates were clean, did not interfere with previous updates, and met player and company expectations.

Listed skills include Ps3, Video Games, Game Development, Computer Games, and 6 others.

Senior Qa Tester

Newport Beach, California, United States

Worked off-site the entirety of my time with NCSoft due to the pandemic. Our team worked tirelessly to make sure our updates were free of errors and worked within the framework of the AION game.Used both in-game debug tools and server side tools to search for information or change variables on characters to verify that the updates being delivered were what we expect and created checklists off of these updates to use as test cases.Created weekly check lists using a proprietary check list manager to track new items, quests, dialogues and in-game store updates. These needed to be verified each Tuesday evening to be sure they were ready for the maintenance builds on Wednesday mornings.Maintained two MMORPGs with a small team and worked with our headquarters in Korea and our Localization department to make certain our updates accurately reflected what our Production team wanted and headquarters had approved for the weekly updates.
