I had many management roles before I began my medical career 25+ years ago as an orderly. I finished my nursing degree in 2000 after battling non–Hodgkin lymphoma. For over 15 years, I had various roles in surgery before coming to the world of infection prevention. Over the years I have been the Infection Prevention Manager at two major hospitals in Georgia before working to the Georgia Department of Public Health as an Infection Preventionist carrying out infection control assessments for Outpatient Surgery Centers, Dialysis Centers, Acute and Long-term Care Facilities. I believe these are the strengths I bring to my current position as Infection Prevention and Quality Management for Pruitt Health.. I received my Certification in Infection Control (CIC) in 2011 and am a member of the Georgia Infection Prevention Network (GIPN) Board. I have worked with the (GHA) Georgia Hospital Association’s Hospital Acquired Infection initiatives under the GHA HEN and the co-coordinators of GHA’s Leading Edge Advanced Topic Program (LEAPT) to oversee the C. difficile initiative. I have worked with them on their Long-term Care Facility Infection Preventionist training program. I have presented on several platforms throughout the Infection Control community and have recently been recognized nationally. My belief in teamwork has portrayed a positive image within the Infection Prevention community.I am a Registered Nurse with a Certification in Infection Control. I am married to my beautiful wife Margaret. Together we have 4 children and 10 grandchildren. We reside in Hartwell, Georgia.
