About Doug Bruce

With over 20 years of experience in the military, I have climbed through the ranks to earn the title of Operations Leader , Trainer and Project Manager. The leadership roles I acquired in the military have been so rewarding and I'm eager to use these skills in my next venture. As a leader, I thrive on witnessing the "light bulb" moment when a trainee understands a concept. It is incredibly rewarding to see the impact of my guidance and mentorship and to witness my team gain the confidence to make their own decisions and tackle problems or projects. Seeing my team thrive and grow in their careers is my "awe-shucks" moment, and it motivates me to continue fostering growth and development. Now, I am looking to translate my military leadership experience into a project manager or corporate trainer role. I am passionate about stewarding the career progression of individuals in the corporate world and helping them reach their full potential. I am eager to bring my skills in leadership, training, and operational management to contribute to the success of an organization that values growth, development, and teamwork.

Operations Manager | Team Leader

Current

Tacoma, Washington, United States

I wore countless hats during my military service. My achievements can be boiled down to 3 major roles:• Mission Crew Commander• Director of Staff• Director of Mission SupportNo matter which role I was in, my ultimate goal was the success of mission outcomes. I achieved those by effectively building, leading, and managing teams – large and small – through critical mission planning, training, and performance management initiatives. There is a saying that when you manage a project, you have to pay attention to the alligator that’s closest to the boat. I did that, but never took my eyes off the encroaching gators. This helped me and the teams I led overcome challenges and implement continuous improvements to operational plans. By training staff with an eye on progressing their careers, I was able to increase effectiveness and team morale. Critical career achievements include:• I improved training schedules, reorganized hundreds of Airmen through multiple deployments, and ensured readiness for international efforts – with zero discrepancies.• I was instrumental in achieving Commander’s goals and objectives by implementing command staff functions and guiding leaders on prioritizing staff engagement – a train-the-trainer type of program. • I have mastered motivating staff, even ones who may not want to be there, by leading people to take ownership of their own roles.
