Working closely with the BoD, we set a strong course for the team and changed the mission statement of our non-profit organization. Over the past few years, our membership grew from 85 to 140, and our membership/volunteer base was inspirational. Over 2016 and 2017, Blue Eagle transitioned from never hosting a meet to being one of the most trusted meet hosts in Middle Atlantic Swimming. In 2016, Blue Eagle Swimming brought the first-ever MA Championship Meet to the Lehigh Valley by co-hosting MA Bronze Champs at Parkland HS with the Parkland HS Swimming Booster Club. My most proud accomplishment serving Blue Eagle Swimming was being part of a group of people who felt strongly enough and supported fervently enough the efforts to provide opportunities to MA swimmers. Together, we proved that MA LC Silver Championships is a worthy endeavor, hosting the first and second successful LC Silver Championships at GCIT. Because of those efforts, 1,200 swimmers have had the opportunity to participate in a meet that previously had not existed. Over the next decade, close to 7,000 athletes will have the opportunity to compete in that meet. Our swimmers were outstanding in the process. In 2016 and 2017, Blue Eagle Swimmers beat the national average for percentage of time improved in all five strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In 2016, Blue Eagle Swimmers improved at an average rate of 8.03 percent. The national average for 2016 was 5.87 percent. From 2014 to 2017, Blue Eagle improved its Virtual Club Championship scores and rankings significantly: increasing from 73,502 to 137,774 total points, improving from 727 to 311 in their USA Swimming ranking and from 31 to 16 in their MA Swimming ranking.
