In my previous role as Global President and Chief Executive Officer of Colliers International, I led the business strategy and vision for our global commercial real estate services, with more than 20,000 professionals in 502 locations across 67 countries. After joining Colliers in 2001, our revenue grew from $180 million to $2.1 billion in 2013, and we grew from 6,600 professionals to over 20,000 worldwide. Colliers provided management and real estate services to a property portfolio of 1.46 billion square feet. The firm completed $75 billion in sales, acquisitions and finance transactions in 2013, with more than 80,000 sales and lease transactions. Colliers was featured on the International Association of Outsourcing Providers’ list of Top Outsourcing Professionals for nine consecutive years—the only commercial real estate provider named to the list every year since its inception. We led Colliers International to be the most progressive and enterprising commercial real estate services organization in the world. We have always found that when an organization provides an environment where people feel they are safe to take risks and run with their ideas, they will reward it by continually improving and developing the most innovative ideas in the industry.
