Wetland specialist in Ecology’s Northwest Region providing technical assistance on wetland protection for government agencies and consultants within Snohomish, Skagit, and San Juan Counties. This includes verification of consultant’s wetland delineations and ordinary high water mark determinations, and assesses the adequacy of their mitigation site designs and monitoring programs. I review wetland regulations in critical areas ordinances and shoreline master programs for city and county government agencies under the Growth Management Act and Shoreline Management Act, I testify at legal proceedings and public hearings, and act as wetland and shoreline expert in enforcement actions. I also prepare decisions involving the approval, denial, or conditioning of permits, or the imposition of civil penalties.

I teach the Wetland Delineation class during spring quarter of this year-long certificate program. This involves providing lectures and leading field trips on how to conduct delineations and prepare wetland reports. I have also been coordinating the practicum research projects the students have to conduct.
