• Lead 417 volunteers at 44 sites to prepare 9,420 tax returns for low-income individuals as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). - Clients received over $17,000,000 in refunds because of this free program. - Factoring savings from not using paid preparers, $19,000,000 was given back into the community. - This is a 6.63 percent increase from the previous year, whereas nationwide VITA had reductions. (6x greater than reasonable goal of 1 percent increase)• Supervised 36 site coordinators to ensure quality work at each site, address concerns, and ensure tax returns were completed accurately and efficiently• Received VITA advanced tax certification from the IRS to prepare and review any tax returns in VITA.• Trained a county-wide cohort of volunteers in FAFSA completion as part of Local College Access Network. FAFSA completion rates increased more than 11 percent from previous year to current. (Goal of 5 percent).
