Hello, my name is Doug Hoffman. Currently I am a student at Athabasca University pursuing my Bachelor of Professional Arts in Criminal Justice. My life experience has provided me with amazing opportunities to work in a multitude of different industries. I spent many years as a gymnastics and parkour instructor, I spent some time in retail as a warehouse employee, I have worked as a cook, I have worked as a labourer laying concrete formwork, and for the last three years I have worked in hospitality as a bartender. These amazing experiences have allowed me to work with individuals of all backgrounds, and I have developed skills and proficiencies along the way. I would describe myself as a go-getter, and I take pride in being the best at what I do. Within six years, I went from being a novice recreational coach to receiving a coach of the year award from the Alberta Gymnastics Federation, and becoming head coach of the parkour program. In my short time in retail I was awarded an employee of the month award. After only a month of working with concrete formwork I was trusted as acting foreman on a job site when my foreman was called away. As a bartender, I started out with no experience, and now I am one of the head bartenders at one of the busiest bars in town. My educational reputation also highlights this mindset as I am currently on the honours list in my program at Athabasca University. I feel that my purpose in life is to help others, which is why I have dedicated my life towards a career in policing. In my free time I enjoy volunteering my time at a local youth group to provide guidance and a safe space for youth in my community. I believe that my passion, drive, experience, and dedication are all factors that set me apart from others. If you are willing to take a chance on me, I would love to show you what an asset I can be!
