About Doug Jacques

A lifelong connection to nature which has resulted in 50 years of canoe trips in all parts of Canada, work at numerous outdoor centres and Nature centres. Teaching in numerous locations including First Nations communities in Northern Ontario and the Arctic. 25 years of designing, teaching and promoting integrated Outdoor/ Environmental/Cross Cultural experiences and education.Current Goals:To support organizations,projects and experiences that develop a life long relationship with Nature that brings both a sense of place and belonging, and respect and reciprocity for all parts of the natural world.To support organizations, projects and experiences that encourage community, equality, and individual engagement to support individual opportunity, and a sense of purpose. Wenjinishkayun Elders, Helpers, Firekeepers, and builders worked with students from The Bronte Creek Project to build a 12 foot Traditional rice collecting Birchbark Canoe. The Canoe represents tradition skills, teaching,stories, respectful relationships, and the recognition of Aanishinabek territory.I am currently working with Wenjinishkayun, Blyth Education International Summers, and the Bronte Creek Project, while developing further River Slider Projects.
