In our first year in business, we learned quickly that progress in our renovation projects was frequently hampered and in some cases halted by clumsy, unresponsive factoring providers who could not operate at our pace, and who's customer engagement practices would invariably frustrate the residents and home owners for whom the factor is supposed to make life easier. In one such project, when we were looking at an unoccupied scaffold for the 30th consecutive day, we decided that the only solution to the problem would be to get majority agreement to displace the current supplier and provide a factoring service to our neighbours by using our own team of tradesmen. We also decided that we would drag the industry into the new millenium by providing a service which users could manage online.
