After a Global BP restructure my previous role was made obsolete and I was transferred within the same team to a new role primarily involved with drilling automation technology whilst retaining the real-time data delivery and visualization portfolio. This role involved close interaction with drilling automation suppliers, influencing and supporting operational field trials, factory acceptance testing and commissioning of their respective products. This automation technology includes wired drillpipe, drilling control system automation, red zone protections systems, automated completion and tubular running amongst others.

Responsible for rolling out this new system to the SPU. Engaging both BP users and all applicable supplier personnel to implement a robust and sustainable dataset. Expediting submission and approval of scorecards and advising on technical related issues. Evaluation of the data to identify performance issue and drive early implementation to both minimize and reduce NPT events and maximize performance across the SPU. Involved with global teams to share learning’s and optimize the implementation. August 2009 to March 2010EWSP Implementation DC&I Lead (transitioning to DC&I Supplier Performance Lead)Baku, AzerbaijanFollowing the awards of EWSP contracts there were in excess of 25 rig level changes and multiple onshore facility changes to be facilitated. Appointed as Lead for the implementation liaising between the technical drilling, Completions and Intervention teams (DC&I) and BP Supply Chain Management (PSCM) and both the new and outgoing incumbent suppliers.

November 2008 – August 2009 Night Wellsite Drilling Team Leader (East Azeri Platform Offshore Caspian Sea) + secondment to supply chain.Baku, AzerbaijanSupporting the day Wellsite Drilling Team Leader delivering wells on East Azeri platform offshore ensuring full compliance with BP program and safety rules offshore Caspian Sea. Well D13 of which I was intimately involved is still regarded as the BP best in class well for the Caspian area.During the period of 2009 I was seconded to Supply Chain (PSCM) supporting the European Wells Services Project (EWSP) for the well placement sector. Assisted with preparing terms & conditions, scope of work and technical / commercial evaluations of EWSP. During post tender negotiations in Aberdeen this role expanded into Project Manager for the Azerbaijan SPU supporting the Wells Manager, liaising with other technical specialists in Aberdeen and Baku and also the tendering suppliers where appropriate. This support extended to technical support for negotiations. September 2006 – October 2008 Technical Specialist Wellbore Placement (Directional Drilling & L/MWD) Baku, AzerbaijanJoined BP from Baker Hughes INTEQ Technical specialist for the Drilling Excellence Team, Specialising in all aspects of Directional Drilling and L/MWD for the AzSPU based in Baku. Supporting the AzSPU line teams for issues involving DD L/MWD. In particular technical, financial and reliability. Database custodian for survey database (multiple 48 slot platforms and sub sea developments) This role was expanded in 2008 to include all BHA related issues and as custodian of the SPU Drilling Technology Plan. During this period one of the main Well Placement (DD/MWD) suppliers was turned around from having multiple cluster failures into their most reliable operation globally all with high end DD/MWD services.

Originally an M/LWD electronics technician, progressing through M/LWD field engineer, Operations co-ordinator and Directional Driller roles again including operational support into full Project Management,Experience setting up and operating high level technology operations and supporting for remote locations.

Fleet Air Arm avionics mechanic, working with Wessex Mk3, Seaking Mk2 and 5 anti-submarine helicopters and also ground radio / radio workshops.
