The Covid pandemic forced me to create a viable business to operate during the shutdowns and continue to help families and children in need. The pandemic caused much disruption, fear, and confusion especially to our children. I created this essential business that allowed us to continue serving our community and providing excellent child care and development programs, and provide employment to many in need throughout the pandemic and shutdowns. While other businesses were dying or locked down, I was able to navigate through the chaos and restrictions, and was able to actively operate. This business allowed me to not only to survive, but thrive during famine and continue to engage and provide needed educational programs that are even more successful today.

Our mission at The M.M.A. Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is to use the unique power of the martial arts to engage people through training, empower them with life skills through mentoring, and enlist them to become mentors to others. Our primary focus is to serve at-risk and underprivileged youth, and women survivors of abuse. We foster what is intrinsic to martial arts: focus, balance, strength, self-control, respect, integrity, perseverance, and courage.The year of 2012 ended with a local tragedy in an elementary school in Sandy Hook, CT, that reverberated shock and horror nationwide. With the growing number of similar calamities, Master Doug Paik felt profoundly challenged to help prevent such senseless violence. With all the skills and resources that he's acquired over the years, Master Doug's personal mission is to bring hope and inspiration through the profound benefits of martial arts.With over 30 years of experience as a student and instructor of the martial arts, Master Doug believes in its unique power to inspire and influence one’s character. Training in the martial arts develops skills to rise above adversity and overcome obstacles both on and off the mat. At The M.M.A. Foundation, we want to serve vulnerable communities and focus on the development of emotional health, social competence, and resilience to deal with challenges and adversities of all kinds by mentoring them in the martial arts.

For 20 years, my academy has been the home for thousands of clients from children to adults of all ages, for the learning and development of physical, mental, and emotional strength and fitness through the intrinsic powers of the martial arts. We teach proper self-defense and help our students develop a healthy lifestyle, but we are more than just punching and pushups. Our mission is to help develop strong character in all our students using martial arts as the way to connect, engage, and empower people and transform them to be model citizens and contributors to society. I have been devoted to being a student and teacher in martial arts my entire life, having earned black belts in Tae Kwon Do (7th Dan), Krav Maga (2nd Dan), Brazilian JiuJitsu (Black), Muay Thai (Kru), Haedong Kumdo (2nd Dan), and am a certified professional MMA coach under the renown American Top Team, and a certified personal trainer. I will always be a student of learning and developing myself, and a leader by example.

One of only 7 in NY to receive license from US Dept. of Treasury in 2000. Assessed and classified import tariffs and taxes for clients and facilitated international shipments for clients. Assist in preparing and submitting customs documents, calculating duties and taxes, coordinating inspections, and resolving any customs-related issues to expedite the clearance process.

Co-Founded startup consumer electronics company. Led the design, sourcing, merchandising, development, overseas manufacturing, and all import logistics for hundreds of consumer electronic products including radios, headphones, CD players, telephones, and accessories. Led and trained all departments and teams in the product development, sales training, and distribution of product lines. Managed all legal affairs related to intellectual property. Traveled extensively to meet with suppliers and oversee product development and quality control.
