As a lifelong resident of Garrett County, and a member of the family that had the first commercial business on Deep Creek Lake, I have deep roots in our community. I believe that as a community, we all need to be mindful and protective of what it is that makes Garrett County a special place for us and for people from all over the world who come to visit. I've volunteered my time to different organizations over the years in an effort to foster job creation and economic growth. I served with the Mountain Maryland Entrepreneurial Development Center, Inc as President of the Governing Board of Directors. Mountain Maryland was a non-profit organization that assisted in the promotion and development of entrepreneurship in Maryland. We developed capital resources through programs such as the Rural West Fund, which assisted regional companies through lending and investing. Our Mountain Angel Network was a group of high net-worth individuals and investors who provided business consulting services. Our strategic alliances included Adena Ventures, The Small Business Development Center - Western Region, Inc. and the Tri-County Council of Western Maryland. MMEDC was founded in 1999 and located in Cumberland, MD.
