• Accountable for partnering with leadership in the region to support, monitor and report on the implementation of corporate safety requirements and standards• Assist in the identification of compliance obligations and support implementation of compliance programs• Provide technical expertise to assist in identification of safety risks and improvement opportunities • Safety performance reporting, monitoring, analysis and communication within the region• Provide an effective link with the corporate safety group for input on the development, implementation of corporate safety requirements and standards• Participate in regular reviews of injuries/accidents for the determination of reportability• Support the overall implementation of the corporate SMS• Support effective root cause analysis and learning from incidents

• Manage and mentor Field Health & Safety Specialists and assist them with below• Guide the Division Management Team in the development/Implementation of Safety Programs. • Ensure day to day operations are carried out safely and efficiently. • Implement and Communicate changes from new legislation & policies. • Assist in conducting Accident, Injury, and Claims investigations and the timely reporting of these incidents ensuring integrity and credibility for both internal purposes and external regulators.• Respond to and provide leadership and coordination at railway accident sites and injuries. • Mentor and guide Health & Safety Committees to achieve CN goals and ensure compliance with the requirements of the Canada Labour Code. • Mentor and guide all Supervisors on risk management and field safety matters. • Identify and address employee Safety concerns. • Support other Occupational Health & Safety activities including disability management and control of damages to customers' lading. Meet with customers to address safety concerns when required.• Communicate directly with Transport Canada and Transportation Safety Board

Meet with customers to address safety concerns and ensure compliance with our policies and guidelines when required.

- Responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trains, engines, foreman- Coordinate yard and main line movements- Protect emergency situations- Coordinate and monitor train operations- Coordinate and protect maintenance activities (work blocks)

- Coordinate and monitor train operations- Supervise and mentor Rail Traffic Controllers- Coordinate on-line maintenance activities both planned and emergent- Manage crews at the away from home terminals and on-line reducing unproductive costs- Maximize the utilization of assets and reduce unproductive costs- Manage exceptions to the operating plan- Communicate and coordinate with traffic management- Produce and relay daily reports to senior managers and Executive Vice-President when required

Assist and/or supervise work gangs consisting of 9 to 40 employees throughout Ontario

- Thermite welding on gangs throughout the GLD- Operate heavy equipment as required on various production gangs in the GLD
