CurrentDoug Smith heads up Commercial Lending and Portfolio Management for Castle Rock Capital Management & Castle Rock Capital Funding, a Tampa-based investment management company specializing in managing portfolios of nonperforming real estate-backed loans and originating loans primarily for private groups and investors. Originally Castle Rock Commercial Capital in 2009 (this the email domain of castlerockcc.com), we dropped the “commercial” as we also added residential assets to our portfolios. Originally with our own Reg D offering in 2010, we quickly found that our niche was managing portfolios, particularly nonperforming loan and private lending, privately for other companies that lacked our level of experience. We make them look good…discretely. The firm operates in most US states. With a formal credit and special assets background, Doug is responsible for all asset underwriting, special assets work and collections, acquisition, and real estate renovation within the firm. Our arm "Castle Rock Capital Funding LLC" provides loans for residential, commercial, and investor clients. Castle Rock also recently added a real estate sales affiliate to assist local and national buyers and sellers of both residential and commercial real estate to buy and sell product in West Central Florida.Our proprietary decision-making models provide us with a disciplined approach to selecting and properly pricing both the buy and sell sides of our investments. The methodology of our investment underwriting process was born out of our extensive commercial lending and special assets experience. Our primary goal is to minimize the downside risk of each investment by underwriting them to a “worst-case” scenario. Not only does this methodology allow us to mitigate risk, but it also allows us to maximize investor returns.
