I commonly adopt a driver-based approach when building reporting solutions, which emulates the operating model of an organization or business unit, to enable decision makers to understand and measure both revenue and expense characteristics, thus providing clear line-of-sight to the profitability dynamics of a strategic business unit or line of business. This framework allows for better measurement of capital investments, growth expectations, operational efficiency, marginal profitability, and value creation.In my experience leading planning and business unit finance teams, I know making the right investment in your reporting and analytical processes will lead to better annual operating plans, more accurate financial forecast and results that will move the organization forward in executing and achieving its performance goals. I enjoy building and integrating financial modeling that leverages a well-designed reporting framework, exogenous factors, and internal assumptions to prepare short and long-range forecast and projections. When there is deviation to forecast or annual plans, I belief the most effective discussions occur when variances are diagnostically evaluated at a rate/volume/mix level so the influences are known and, when necessary, action plans are implemented to ensure the team or organization remains on track in fulfilling its commitments.
