Life is Good down here on the southeastern coast of North Carolina, which is where I have called home since 1999. Brunswick County is the fastest growing county in NC and has a large bullseye on it because we are a major destination for retirees. With 15,000 of us Baby Boomers retiring every day, most are looking for a warmer climate, access to the beach and a lower cost of living. We have all that and a lot more here. After graduating from Univ of Tennessee in Knoxville, my path to NC was wide and quite interesting. First stop was Greenville, SC, (before Gville was cool) where I worked for Duracell Batteries. Next stop was Atlanta for 10 years (those very crazy 80s!) where I found myself in Industrial Automation (PSI Hydraulics & Electronics). In 1989, I landed in Milwaukee and worked for Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation before heading back east for a 7 year gig north of Boston at Modicon/AEG/Schneider Electric. In early 1999, I experienced a mild epiphany whereby I realized that after 10 horrible winters, it was time to move south again!! Wilmington, NC, fit the bill and a job with Weiland Electric (my second German company) worked out nicely. Finally, in 2002, I made the move into real estate and that is pretty much my natural calling. I worked for a few large developers before opening up Carolina Plantations Real Estate in 2006. www.CarolinaPlantations.com My firm specializes in assisting people (primarily from up north and the Midwest) determine if this area of the world meets their needs for a place to retire. Then in 2008, I purchased Plan View Design, a company that designs high end custom built homes in 3D - which is really cool.If not at work, my interests lie in travel, 14 years with The Rotary Club of Shallotte, 9 years on Board of Directors of the Brunswick Community College Foundation, nearly four years serving on the Board of Trustees at BCC, Lower Cape Fear Hospice Board of Trustees, lots of travel, Fishing, Golf and more.
