Responsible for audit technical matters as well as initiatives that focus on quality and effectiveness. Develops audit methodology guidance and tools for KPMG in Canada and supports the firm’s audit teams across Canada.A partner of KPMG’s Development of Professional Practice (DPP), dealing with regulatory review matters and working with both CPAB and PCAOB. In addition, I’m also the Canadian representative of the firm’s International Standards Assurance Group--which is comprised of KPMG member firms around the world--and I am also responsible for assurance related matters.As the firm’s Data and Analytics Audit Leader, I have been instrumental in developing and implementing a number of audit quality initiatives that focus on enhancing the future of audit. For example, the introduction of D&A techniques to the practice of audit at KPMG enables auditors to access and analyze 100 per cent of financial data, to better scrutinize a company’s financial performance and end-to-end data processes. This enhanced approach to financial reporting assurance not only provides clients with increased confidence in their audit, but also enables peer benchmarking and increased speed of analysis and reporting in future. I also work closely with KPMG’s Global Services Centre—Audit in determining the next-generation tools that will facilitate the performance of efficient and effective audits. A senior relationship partner for a number of KPMG clients—working closely with management and audit committees—I provide advice on accounting, audit, securities and business-related issues, including dealing with SEC foreign private issuers, 144A offerings and other regulatory matters such as SOX. An author and speaker at various conferences and seminars. Currently a member of the Canada’s Audit and Assurance Standards Board (AASB), which deals with setting assurance standards in the Canadian marketplace.
