Level Access (formerly SSB BART Group, majority stake purchased in 2017 by JMI Equity) is the leading technology and solutions provider to large government agencies and corporations, assisting them in making their web sites, software applications, and work environments accessible to persons with disabilities. I co-founded (with Tim Springer, now CEO) and was founding CEO for the company in its early days. Together with Kevin Gough (Google, Okta), Ethan Kurzweil (Bessemer) and a host of other talented folks, we created a small industry and have been leading the way in accessibility ever since. Glory days of staying in youth hostels for 2 weeks as we sold our first government contracts have evolved to a 200+ person organization serving a slew of government agencies, financials, and Fortune 500 behemoths. We made it through two downturns waiting for the moment when accessibility laws for the web and software would catch up with / be included in the ADA. We've reached that watershed moment with recent changes in legislation and are so proud to continue to serve the community. I was an active board member and/or employee with the company through almost 18 years of amazing growth alongside Tim and the rest of the SSB BART crew, until the majority stake sale of the company to JMI in 2017. This is how you double bottom line - cheers to Tim for an amazing run and leadership through it all!

I managed the business development team focused on improving government and hi-technology relationships and sales opportunities through strategic partnerships. Reporting to the new CEO, we jointly developed strategic direction. I built and maintained all strategic partnerships with major systems integrators and technology companies, such as Accenture, EDS, Adobe Systems, AT&T Government Solutions, and managed all government contracts, and managed the sales team and all major account sales, winning customers such as PeopleSoft, NASA, the Social Security Administration and Oracle.

I dropped out of college (later finished) to found SSB BART Group with current CEO, Tim Springer. Developed initial business, software development, and marketing plans. Raised first and second rounds of capital. Led company to $1.4M revenue and profitability in first full year of operations.

Shuddle provided safe, reliable rides for families and kids in the Bay Area. I joined the company in December, 2015, taking over for the outgoing CEO. We had a lot to accomplish in a short amount of time, and I'm so proud of the work we did as a team. So many wonderful lessons learned and incredible people met. Very sad to have such a valuable service for parents close its doors.

Minted is the leader in bringing custom design from its amazing community of artists into your home. Together with an incredibly talented team of engineers, creatives, and merchandisers, we launched Minted's first two digital businesses (Online Invitations and Wedding Websites), both of which are poised to extend the reach of Minted's brand and the frequency of conversation the company has with its customers. Minted has such an incredibly talented leadership team and team writ large, and continues to lead in retail and design innovation.

I worked with the very talented engineering and product management teams at Room77 prior to the $GOOG acquisition of our consumer platform and team. I guided the launch of a massive rewrite of the core site and mobile UX that lead to that acquisition, as well as industry-leading meta search technology advances. Brad Gerstner and Drew Patterson brought together a wonderful team of people. I only wish we had the opportunity to work together a bit more before the acquisition.

zulily (ZU) is the leading e-commerce site for moms and kids. The company's fanatical members made it one of the fastest growing e-commerce companies of all time. Before going public and being subsequently purchased by Liberty Media (QVCA) for $2.4B, it was backed by Maveron, Andreessen Horowitz, Meritech, and August Capital. At zulily, I built and led the product management function and organization, working in collaboration with fantastic engineers and designers on the development of zulily's core consumer, vendor, and internal experiences. I spearheaded the company's first real mobile effort (from 18% to 50%+ of the business during my tenure) and the tight, full cycle integration between marketing and product. While running the product management organization, I was also responsible for zulily's strategic investments / acquisitions / and development of new business opportunities in my corporate development function.

Founder and CEO of Off & Away, an online travel auction and private sale site that utilized unfilled luxury suite inventory to drive standard room demand at some of the best hotels in the world (Starwood, Taj, Fairmont, Destination Hotels and Resorts, Intercontinental, etc.). The company was one of the leaders in the alternative travel commerce space along with Jetsetter (Gilt) and SniqueAway (TripAdvisor). Off & Away was a Techcrunch Disrupt finalist and was featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Conde Nast Travel, etc. We built a world class team that has gone on to leadership positions at zulily, Uber, Amazon, Simply Measured, Campaign Monitor, and Minted, and our development and design team had such a great time together that they started their own dev shop called Pancake Labs (www.pancake-labs.com) whose clients include Zillow, Room77 (naturally), Minted (naturally), Microsoft, and a slew of other startups. Best development shop around if you want beautiful, fast, and stable product and engineering work.. We sold the company to Lockerz where I stayed on as Chief of Member Experience (managed customer service, merchandising, and marketing departments) for 3 months before heading to zulily (long, fun story).

Sat alongside the best humans in venture capital and started Off & Away.

Jott, a voice-to-text mobile app, was one of the fastest growing mobile app businesses of its time, growing from around 30K members when I joined to around 900K a year and a half later when we sold to Nuance Communications (believe it or not, this was some pretty stellar mobile growth at the time). We were one of the first 300 apps featured in Apple's app store, reigning as the #1 productivity app for the first 3 months, were frequently featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek, The Week, The Economist, etc. I negotiated and executed an exclusive deal with Motorola that had us on the front of 5M+ Bluetooth headset and speakerphone boxes. While at Jott, I ran marketing, business and revenue development, and core analytics for the company. We had a phenomenal team backed by Bain Venture Capital and Draper Richards, and led by CEO / Founder John Pollard and CTO / Founder Shree Madhavapeddi. I went on to co-found Off & Away with Michael Walton, who I recruited to Jott (and with whom I worked at Amazon prior to that). We built the O&A team with a bunch of ex-Jotters (Brooke Steger, Nick Redmond, etc.).

I led product management and 3rd party Sporting Goods category for Amazon. As a team, we grew the business to 142% of plan through disciplined improvements to customer experience, merchandising, seller acquisition and customer acquisition.

I helped lead product development, business development, and launch of Amazon's first digital video service.
