CurrentThe Bruder Consulting & Venture Group (www.bruderconsulting.com) provides services to start-up through multi-national conglomerate medical device, regenerative medicine and biotechnology companies, investment banks, venture partners and private equity firms. The company’s dedicated team of executive Engagement Partners offers clients a diversified expertise in technology, product and market development, clinical and regulatory affairs, reimbursement and health economics, and commercialization strategy, including financial and/or strategic partnering. Agreements with exceptional “Affiliate Firms” that provide complimentary services to the Group, such as laboratory and animal studies for regulatory approval, global clinical trial execution, and intellectual property analysis and valuation, along with a set of world renown "Special Advisors" from academia, distinguish the Group from more traditional boutique consulting firms. Clients include companies in the United States, Europe, Israel, China, and Japan. With BCVG, I leverage my expertise in global product development, preclinical and clinical research, manufacturing and operations, and strategic business development to support our clients' needs in developing and commercializing technologies in the orthopedics, plastic & reconstructive surgery, craniomaxillofacial, and wound markets.
Sr. Vice President, Operations
Cytori is a leading regenerative medicine company developing device-based adipose tissue-derived cell therapies for cardiovascular disease, thermal burns and soft tissue injuries, and reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. As SVP of Operations, I led multiple departments to support Cytori’s shift from a development company to a commercialization organization, and drove setting and execution of core corporate strategic priorities in development, production, logistics, infrastructure, and innovation. I had reporting responsibility for the product development, research, manufacturing, quality, and field support departments, which consisted of as many as 50 managers, engineers, scientists, research assistants, quality associates, assembly technicians, and machinists. My accomplishments include prioritizing and directing sustaining engineering and process improvement efforts to streamline manufacturing and expand Cytori’s product lines to meet global requirements; opening a new ISO9001/13485 manufacturing facility in Wales, UK, in the process securing incentive funding from the Welsh government and enabling a “country of origin” pathway for regulatory approval in China; serving an instrumental role in securing US Government (BARDA) baseline and option contracts providing a total of $18.8M in financial support for the further development of Cytori’s technology, including the next generation of Celution® Cell Processing System; creating the company’s field support and technical service group, complete with supporting procedures and product training program; developed the tactics, procedures, and group mindset that consistently successfully achieved KPI’s including no backorders, responsive shipping, no significant procedure delays, and no major nonconformities in FDA and ISO audits.
Vice President, Product Development
I joined Cytori to drive their transition from a basic cell therapy research mentality to a regenerative medicine product development company. In this role, I successfully developed an interdisciplinary team and led them to develop the initial clinical and commercial generations of the Celution System, a software-driven electromechanical medical device with corresponding sterile single-use disposable sets and enzymatic processing reagents, through design control and into production. In addition, I served as the principal corporate liaison and technical leader in a Joint Venture with a large Japanese medical device company to develop and manufacture the next generation cell processing system for global production.
Group Manager, Strategic Biologics Development
Biomet is a global orthopedic leader with reconstructive, arthroscopic, dental, spine, fixation and biologics products. Upon Interpore’s acquisition by Biomet, my responsibilities expanded to the management of strategic technology evaluation and product development across multiple business units. Formulated corporate strategy for biologics R&D through new applications of existing products and identification/licensing of new technologies and products related to the practice of surgery and orthopedics. I led the integration of Interpore’s AGF (PRP) product line into Biomet’s biologics division, and aligned new departmental priorities with Biomet's corporate strategy.
Director, Biologics Research
Interpore Cross is an orthopedic and spine company pioneering early bone grafting and orthobiologics technologies. In this role, I led internal and external research and development efforts to expand Interpore’s global presence as an industry leader in orthobiologics. One main accomplishment was directing a multi-disciplinary team to develop Interpore’s AGF technology and manufacture the company’s software-driven electromechanical platelet-rich plasma separation and concentration system.
