Senior Systems AdministratorTelepictures Dec 2012 - PresentUsTelepictures is an American television and film production company, currently operating as a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Television.* Telepictures purchased the Crowd Fusion application (LAMP based) and I came aboard to continue supporting it.* Work 100% Remote.* Heavily reworked the processes and configurations to provide stability, increase security, reduce downtime, and reduce unnecessary on-call notifications.* Manage day to day operations and maintenance of Telepictures’ virtual servers. Also perform on-call duties.* All servers are hosted in the Amazon Cloud.* Improved budget process saving $100K/year.* Created a simplified and streamlined employee review process for my department that was adopted at the corporate level.* Rewrote the sysadmin hiring process to be interactive. - Applicants can’t see the full job description or contact information until completing a simple troubleshooting test. - This reduces job applicants to those qualified and serious about applying.* Migrated half of our servers from bash scripts to AWS OpsWorks using Chef 12 and AWS CodeDeploy. - After 2 years of development using Chef and Ruby, I found things break a lot less if you just use Ruby as a Bash wrapper.* Migrating the other half of servers from bash scripts to AWS ECS. Software rewritten to use Symfony and AWS DynamoDb. - The entire infrastructure is built using AWS CloudFormation. -- CloudFormation works well until you hit CRP (CloudFormation Rollback Purgatory). - Application is built by an automated GitHub -> AWS CodePipeline -> AWS CodeBuild -> AWS ECS process. - All logging is sent to AWS CloudWatch and Datadog. - ECS works out of the box for applications with a single server and a single task on a single server. -- Everything else requires extensive customization. - Wrote several AWS Lambda scripts in node and python. -- I can write scripts in node and python, but am by no means an expert. -
