This fall I was provided with two great opportunities working part-time at ESPN and Merrill Lynch.At ESPN I worked saturday's making highlights of key plays for college football games and posting relevant statistics for fans on ESPN360. I really enjoyed the time spent at ESPN, it also re-enforced my desire to pursue future employment opportunities with them. It was also great for me to turn one of my greatest hobbies into a job. Furthermore, I was able to put some of my skills taken from classes at UConn into play at ESPN. I demonstrated the ability to multi-task while making highlights and posting statistics. When I was done producing highlights, I was constantly sorting through pages of team game notes, college football archives and team media guides to think of creative ways to post statistics. I was also always communicating ESPN360 feed issues with my managers so I could do my job better. Working with Merrill Lynch was a great experience because I got a great look at the job of a financial advisor while shadowing a successful financial advisor at Merrill Lynch. I learned what the job entails, and what kind of skills and personal characteristics it would take to work as a Financial advisor. While being a financial advisor may not be my first career choice, I came out of my fall internship with a great experience. I spent most days cold calling prospective clients trying to set appointments, this made me very comfortable communicating with anyone in a business setting. I also displayed a professional attitude and strong work ethic working at Merrill. I was able to stomach rejection and motivate myself to continue making more calls. I'm currently heading into my final semester at UConn, targeted to graduate this May 2010. I'd would like to land a full-time position in the Sports statistics or Finance industry as an analyst for this summer or next fall.Specialties: Microsoft Office: Excel, Power point, Access, WordCommunication skills: I've improved my communication skills through cold calling prospective clients while working at Merrill Lynch and interacting with management at ESPN. I've displayed strong analytical skills and the ability to multi-task while working at ESPN, constantly making quick highlight clips on ESPN360.com while researching and posting statistics
