U.S. Naval Flight Officer
I served in numerous squadrons in increasing levels of responsibility, from flight student to flight instructor, to Maintenance Officer and Operations officer of Navy Fighter Squadrons. I also was selected to serve as a TOPGUN instructor at NAS Miramar from 1993-1995.I was an F-14 "backseater" a Naval Flight Officer referred to as a Radar Intercept officer, or RIO. I led people in a multitude of challenging and dynamic managerial positions and scenarios.I served in conflicts in Iraq, Somalia, Libya and in peacetime operations around the world. I was assigned to the following squadrons in order: VT-10 (student NFO 84-85), VT-86 (Student 85), VF-101 (Student 85-86), VF-14 (86-89) and two deployments of the USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV-67). VF-124 (89-92), VF-213 (92-93 deployed to Iraq and Somalia on the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN CVN-72), TOPGUN (93-95) and VF-213 (95-97 deployed to Iraq on the USS KITTY HAWK CV-63).
