Douglas Eisinger has been with Sonoma Technology, an air quality firm, since 1995. Doug is the former chair of the U.S. Transportation Research Board (TRB) Air Quality and Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Committee; TRB is part of the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.At Sonoma Technology, Doug is Chief Scientist for Transportation Policy & Planning and helps STI promote environmental justice. He served on STI’s Board of Directors and as a 401(k) Plan Trustee. He is a dedicated environmentalist, educator, author, and community leader. Resources for the Future awarded Doug a Fellowship in Environmental Regulatory Implementation. Also, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials named him a national air quality expert. While a U.S. EPA Section Chief, he received EPA’s Bronze Medal for reducing automotive pollution. For over 12 years, Doug was the U.C. Davis-Caltrans Air Quality Project Program Manager. Doug is a highly-rated professor. He is an Affiliate Professor for the University of Washington Master of Sustainable Transportation Program; an adjunct faculty member at the Vermont Law and Graduate School; and, he has taught air quality and climate issues for 20 years at the University of Hawaii. He also taught transportation policy at U.C. Davis (UCD) and worked with Civil & Environmental Engineering faculty at UCD to mentor graduate students. Doug’s book, "Smog Check: Science, Federalism, and the Politics of Clean Air," with a Foreword by Mary Nichols, was required reading for U.C. Riverside public policy students.
