Doug has over 25 years experience in government relations, communications, business development, program management, and policy development and implementation. Earned a reputation as an influential, ethical, and trustworthy leader and team player. Doug creates and strengthens relationships and build key stakeholders that encourage win- win solutions. He is a known collaborator with strong communication skills with all levels of an audience. And he brings to the table sound political and business judgment with integrity at the heart of each decision. Currently, he is the Vice President of State Affairs for Air Methods Corporation in Colorado. And prior to that he was the Vice President of Corporate Communications at AMC. Beginning in 1993, he worked for U.S. Congressman Wayne Allard as a Legislative Assistant in Washington, D.C. After Allard’s election to the U.S. Senate, he was the Senator’s national security, trade, energy, and Military Legislative Assistant, before becoming Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director. After 10 years with Senator Allard, Doug received his first Presidential appointment to the Department of Energy as the Senior Policy Advisor for Environmental Management where he provided policy support and counsel to the Assistant Secretary for EM. Shortly after moving to Colorado in 2005 he founded Flanders & Associates, LLC, a Colorado-based public affairs firm assisting private companies and public sector entities connect with Washington, D.C. In mid-2007, he received a second Presidential appointment as the Senior Advisor to the Regional Administrator (RA) for the U.S. General Services Administration’s Rocky Mountain Region. He provided policy support and counsel to the RA in matters of specific interest to the Administration, oversaw the region’s six-state Congressional Affairs program, and liaisoned with other state and local elected officials. Additionally, Doug served as the Acting Public Affairs Officer. In 2010 he became. the Director of Policy & External Affairs for the Colorado Oil & Gas Association where he was responsible for government and politcial affairs, media relations, and external outreach. Doug received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
