In Ramallah, I led an international, multi-discipline team assisting the Palestinian Authority's security reform. I mentored Ministers and Security Chiefs, and designed and organised governance, to create a National Security Council; I was awarded the US Legion of Merit. In Canada, I saw our bilateral Defence relationship thrive through focussing on specific, concrete activity and constructive challenge. I have an MBA. I am a member of the Royal College of Defence Studies and a graduate of the UK Joint Services Staff College. I am a Chartered Engineer and a practitioner in PRINCE 2, Managing Successful Programmes and Risk Management. My experience spans strategic thinking, planning, programme planning and infrastructure delivery. From my work with governments, on military operations and the NHS, I know the value of setting and communicating clear goals. I am Honorary Colonel of Wales Universities' Officer Training Corps and a Trustee for Citizen’s Advice Monmouthshire. For six years I was Chairman of Army Swimming, Water Polo and Diving. I have swum across the English Channel and the Sea of Galilee. I enjoy the outdoors: walking, rowing, swimming, ice hockey and cross-country skiing.
