It is a Scala/Lift web application hosted in Amazon EC2, integrating to Amazon RDS and S3, with support for many devices and input types (text, handwriting, image, video), and a complex user interface with extensive use of Javascript. It has an associated AWS Lambda companion for processing and analysis of events in real-time.- Development of features and bug fixes. Tier 3 support for a 18,000+ person university, along with many smaller clients. J2EE and cloud logging. - Infrastructure management of AWS using web portal and Amazon Linux AMI. Bastion based infrastructure security. Monitoring using Quacker, an in-house detection and notification system. ADFS identity management. Multiple cloud accounts with spend control.- Integration of feature-branching development into a bi-weekly release cycle. Patch releases for high priority bug fixes as required. Release stack covering embedded local to external J2EE standard production. Separate, hygienic build servers. Externalised configuration to atomic artifacts.- Management of a large backlog of product features and bug fixes. • Client: National Aerial Firefighting Centre (NAFC) [2015 to 2016]Role: Development LeadI managed the development and support of the ARENA website, a national registry of aircraft available for fire and emergency response.• Client: VicSuper [2005 to 2015]Roles: Environment Manager, Transition Manager.Major project: complete business application refresh (migrating from custom software to third-party systems)I planned and executed the final production deployment runsheet containing in-house and vendor IT activities spanning 30 days and ~25 systems. I managed the dev, test and production environment application stacks, enforcing process and maintaining a cohesive view of current and planned application versions over time. I maintained environment integration views for visibility of development progress.Roles: Business Analyst, Solution Designer.Major projects: unitisation (migrating from crediting rates to unit prices), periodic benefit statements. I worked closely with the business to refine requirements, the architects to design the integration solution, and the development team to implement required bug fixes and enhancements. Roles: Production Support Lead, Release Manager.I managed the production support and release processes for around ten custom Java and Ruby applications that are used by all aspects of the business, with heavy use of Jira for issue management. Roles: Software Developer, Technical Lead, Scrum Master.I worked closely with the business in an agile team to build and enhance custom software, using Scrum iterative development to flexibly respond to changing business requirements. I led the team for over three years. • Client: Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE), Victorian Government [2001 - 2005]I contributed to the design and development of IRIS, the incident management system used by the Fire Management group. I also worked on other systems commissioned by the Fire Information Systems Group.

I worked with a graphic designer to create and maintain web sites for 10+ customers in PHP, ASP and HTML, ranging from simple informational sites to complex dynamic, interactive sites. I created a web based shopping cart purchasing system and delivery charge calculator. I created interfaces to payment gateways to provide real-time credit card processing. I secured payments and sensitive areas of websites using SSL and user management.

I led a team of C++ developers on projects including: a communication package to synchronise data between remote sites via modem; a complex job costing and analysis system for catering equipment suppliers / manufacturers; a newsagency package including Point Of Sale, home delivery and sub-agent management, inventory management, user and technical documentation; an Electronic Data Interchange application to automate ordering and communication between newsagencies and their suppliers. I worked as a C developer to maintain and support a vehicle rental industry package used in 100+ locations across Australasia including rental and lease contracts, reservations, fleet movement and central reservations. I linked systems to Sybiz Vision Accounting via custom classes. I interfaced systems with third-party spreadsheet, Crystal Reports, JPEG, fax and communication DLLs. I liaised with users, beta testers, sales and marketing and independent system testers. I installed software updates and supported clients remotely via modem.

I installed computer systems in small businesses and schools, installing and configuring networks between Windows and Macintosh workstations. I configured Internet accounts using proxy servers to share bandwidth between multiple workstations. I supported and maintained operating systems, software and hardware, both on-site and remotely. I trained students, teachers, private users and business users. I provided support for a wide range of software, from accounting to educational programs.
