Doug has over 20 years of experience in the field of mining, marine and heavy industrial structures, with significant experience in the design and design auditing of rail mounted bulk materials handling machinery and mining and heavy industrial infrastructure. This experience extends to a detailed knowledge of Australian and International structural design, machine design, materials and fabrication standards (AS, ISO, AWS, EN, GB standards).In order to manage a team of specialist Structural Engineers, a detailed knowledge and appreciation has been developed for structural mechanics and fundamentals (as the basis for determining actions on structures), analysis methods and software and design standards and codes (as the basis of acceptance criteria), plus fabrication and welding requirements to allow application of these parameters holistically when reviewing any structural issue.The structural design industry is also continually evolving, with design standards development (such as Eurocodes) and the constantly changing regulatory environment.
