This role included not only product architecture, but also many business architecture assignments.Product Architecture - served as a liaison between the IT product development team and business stakeholders. Researched policy admin system functionality as part of product development process to determine cost and time estimates for system modifications. Business Architecture - created functional area capability maps to facilitate a common understanding of the business and technical issues. Created and presented a "policy administration system ecosystem map" to facilitate a common understanding of policy administration functions for a policy admin system selection project. Worked with outside consultant to create an enterprise-wide capability map in preparation for a policy admin implementation and conversion. Created enterprise value chain diagram. Researched and evaluation policy administration systems for policy admin system replacement initiative.In addition, teamed with a consulting organization to rationalize life insurance and annuity product portfolio from over 3000 plan codes to 300 as part of a policy admin system selection initiative. Managed a cross-functional team of 10-15 members charged with evaluating and selecting a new Customer Communications Management System.

Managed a team of 8-10 business analysts and developers. My direct reports worked on teams that delivered and maintained life insurance and annuity products, implemented an enterprise accounting system, agency and commission system, implemented a workflow system, and developed and delivered an "Electronic application" for agents. Teams used waterfall and agile methodologies.Did performance planning and performance evaluation. Worked with project management area to staff projects. Standardized business analyst and developer job accountabilities based upon job levels.Also project manager of "Long Term Care Compliance" project - managed a part-time team of 8 business analysts and developers charges with making the administration of a Long Term Care product completely compliant with various regulations and product specifications. The team delivered all 17 items outlined in the project charter in less than nine months.

Responsible for typical business analyst functions including: Requirements facilitation, discovery, and documentation; System function design and documentation; Testing; User training development and delivery. Researched and evaluated various SDLC methodologies. Mentored and coached other business analysts. Developed training materials for new business analysts. Facilitated requirements discovery, development, and delivery of an activity tracking system that was integrated with a third party policy administration system. Developed and documented functional design for a variety of systems which monitored replacement activity, integrated a third party underwriting system with an in-house policy administration system, and tracked dependents of "hospital cash" policies. As a Business Analyst Project Leader, was project manager for implementation of a variable annuity product. Directed the work of 15-20 team members. Implemented new business procedures as this was a new line of business for the organization. The team delivered 35-40 modifications to a third party policy system. Upgraded policy admin system to new release. Product achieved sales of over $1.5 million if first six months. Initiated "business analysis" phase and initiated a new technique for requirements discovery and documentation. Developed expertise with Cognos Impromptu BI tool.
