About Doug Chin
I have been working in college athletics for over a decade, primarily in NCAA Division III conference offices. Over that time I have developed a strong desire for working with and advocating for not only student-athletes, but student populations in general. While I broke into the industry as a communications professional, my role has evolved to include additional administrative responsibilities and my career interests have expanded beyond the athletics realm. This expanded scope inspired me to further my formal education, earning Masters degrees in both sport leadership and coaching and business administration (MBA). I am currently in the enrolled in the Doctorate of Education (EdD) program at Northeastern University. My research is focused on the role of NCAA DIII athletic departments at small, private, nonselective institutions have as enrollment-drivers. With demographic shifts and greater competition for students, the continued existence of these schools is in danger. The hope is that my research will help offer solutions to these problems.I view myself as a change agent who is driven to improve on existing systems and create opportunities for other young professionals trying to break into the business.
