The volunteer work is for the Bishop Sullivan Center in their Employment Services Program. We help folks (typically low-income but at any level) find work by providing them counseling and assistance. Our Resource Room has computers for searching and applying for jobs, researching potential employers, writing resumes and other documents needed for applications, interviews and job fairs. We provide assistance with resumes, interview techniques and general moral support. I find it very rewarding and actually fun! Support Packaging department with capital equipment selection, efficiency improvements and special projects. BIVI is a manufacturer of vaccines for food and companion animals.

Work in a manufacturing environment to provide packaging equipment and component support for that site and other global sites. Investigate, select and qualify materials and components for packaging solid and liquid pharmaceuticals. This includes testing of components. Investigate and recommend equipment for packaging pharmaceuticals. Troubleshoot problems with component performance relating to product protection and machinability and implement solutions.

Support day-to-day manufacturing and packaging of liquid and solid products. Specify, purchase and install change parts and tooling for liquids and blister packaging equipment including thermoformers, cartoners, case packers, feeders, conveyors. Identify and implement safety, ergonomic and improvement projects. Troubleshoot equipment problems and implement solutions.

Directed 16 craftsmen maintaining plant utilities (boilers, chillers, air handlers, cooling towers, DI water systems, electrical systems) and structure (walls, floors, doors, roof, roads) at the 1,000,000 sqft facility and several off-site buildings. Troubleshoot equipment and system issues and implement solutions.

Only mechanical engineer at this 200 MW coal-fired facility. Supported operations and maintenance managers and supervisors on various maintenance and improvement projects for steam generator, flue gas scrubber, coal handling and steam turbine.
