Doug Makishima is a seasoned C-level executive, startup adviser and angel investor with deep experience in cloud edge computing, AI, wireless mobile communications, IoT, networking & storage, e-commerce and blockchain technologies. Doug is a thought leader and visionary with a keen understanding of the wireless, mobile device and IoT ecosystem. He has a solid track record of delivering to and collaborating with telecom operators, enterprises, mobile device OEMs, infrastructure vendors, and SoC / IC vendors. Before founding VieQi, he was COO & CSMO at D2 Technologies, a leading IP communications software company advancing mobile voice & messaging solutions (VoIP, VoLTE, VoWiFi, RCS, UCaaS, CPaaS). Prior to joining D2 Technologies, he was VP of marketing at Intoto (Acquired by Freescale), a provider of network security and convergence/VoIP software platforms. Before joining Intoto, he served as VP of marketing for Hifn (acquired by Exar), a leading provider of security and network processors, and as vice president of marketing and sales for ParkerVision, a wireless communications IC company. He has held senior management positions at leading companies such as Nortel Networks, Bay Networks, AMD, Auspex and Adaptec. Doug was also involved in the acquisition of WiFi startup Netwave Technologies by Bay Networks & Nortel, and during his engineering career, developed patented storage IC technology (patent# 5,659,690). Doug has actively participated on several Linux Foundation (CAMARA), GSMA, IEEE, ANSI and MEF committees focused on wireless, networking, communications and storage standards. For nearly 10 years, he was a voting member of the IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi committee. Doug is a frequent speaker at major industry events including GSMA MWC, MEF CES, CTIA Wireless, WebRTCexpo and IMS World Forum.Doug holds a BSEE from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from Santa Clara University.
