Colleagues describe him as "While working with Doug at the Buffalo Museum of Science, I was in awe of his engaging approach in whatever project he was involved with. It’s not often you find such a great personality combined with the technical and organizational expertise. You just know he will succeed at every endeavor he decides to take on! " and "I worked with Douglas as first a volunteer and then as an Intern. He inspires learning, adventure and exploration in both children and adults. His extensive knowledge of nanoscience and technology is only part of what makes Douglas an asset to any community he is in.
Douglas has a way of being able to make the most difficult concepts accessible and bring a good measure of fun to museum learning. At the same time he can manage many different personalities, forming teams with disparate individuals and bringing the best out in everyone.
As both a volunteer and an Intern I saw how he built knowledge and skills while building up people and creating a sense of community. He also helps his staff grow both as people and professionally with gentle guidance and critiquing their work efforts and their professionalism-or lack thereof.
I would highly recommend Douglas for any position he applied for, knowing full well the asset he will be in any environment. "
