About Douglas Leask

I am a highly motivated and commercially aware professional with a track record of achievement in both the diving and workboat sectors. Since 2003 my company has been the principal marine contractor at the EMEC wave and tidal test sites in Orkney, providing support to all the developers. Projects range from consulting, planning, installing, maintaining and decommissioning of prototype wave and tidal test devices. I am a strong leader with excellent interpersonal skills and have been Managing Director of Leask Marine for over 28 years. I have significantly grown the business over that time, with recent investments to support the developing renewables sector in Orkney mainly through the purchase of two multicat- type workboat vessels. The philosophy and culture for Leask Marine is to safely deliver successful projects for our clients.

We specialise in charter vessels and commercial diving and provide a diverse service to our clients. Under my leadership the business has grown significantly , currently with 30 team members. We have worked with leading developers in the renewables sector such as :Aquamarine Power, OpenHydro, Bauer Renewables Ltd, Voith Hydro, Mojo Maritime, Andritz Hydro Hammerfest, Alstom (formerly TGL), Wello, Ecosse Subsea Systems, Statoil and many more .To support the growth in the renewables sector I have recently invested in two new vessels - C Odyssey which was purpose built and C-Salvor which is our latest marine renewables support vessel. Safety is of paramount importance in all our operations and all projects are diligently carried out with detailed work procedures and recognised standards. Leask Marine is Lloyds Register Approved, a Registered Member of Achilles FPAL and a Member of the Association of Diving Contractors (ADC).
