Job Responsibilities:- Lead fundraising efforts for donors and prospects for the Smeal College of Business, which includes setting annual receipt and commitment goals.- Offer professional guidance and leadership in identifying and implementing strategies for successful private philanthropy.- Create annual fundraising plans and oversee related activities in support of goals and objectives.- Handle a portfolio of the college's high-level major gift prospects, and identify, cultivate, and solicit donors and prospects.- Collaborate with academic unit heads, development staff, trained committee volunteers, and University Development staff to maximize fundraising success.- Involve department heads, faculty, and staff in fundraising initiatives.Representative Duties:- Develop and execute plans for evaluating, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects.- Identify, cultivate, steward, and solicit contributions through personal outreach and visits.- Collaborate with the Dean, Chancellor, or unit leadership on strategic advancement initiatives and campaign committee management.- Analyze program effectiveness and recommend improvements or new strategies.- Work with committees and boards to plan and implement development activities.- Develop communication tools, proposals, and reports.- Act as a liaison for the annual fund and prepare regular progress reports.- Align University strengths with prospective donors.- Identify, cultivate, recruit, and train volunteers for designated projects.- Interpret available research data relevant to developing relationships with potential donors.I have had the privilege of personally mentoring and coaching three assistant directors of development, all of whom have not only met but exceeded their metric goals in under six months.
