My goal is to help accounting better utilize technology. During my time at Forge Insurance Company, I have farther developed their understanding of the underlying trends in the business through several data analytics techniques and improved budgeting processes. Through the use of PowerBI and other programs, I am able to show the decision makers the results of my research in a concise format. Due to my experience in accounting, I am better able to understand the data and how the data will affect the financial statements. While technology is great at diving deeper into the numbers, it is also great with automation. I have helped automate several system in accounting including accounts payable, reconciliations, and other reports. I have also implemented a new general ledger system and helped implement a new policy administration system. By improving automation, it has allowed me to focus my time on more value adding activities.Through my experience in public and private accounting, I have gained great experience preparing financial statements and month end close. At Forge, I will prepare the financial statements in GAAP and STAT. By preparing and reviewing the statements, I am able to see what the company does well. During the month end close, I will review expenses by comparing them against the budget, previous month results, and other metrics. I will also prepare reconciliations for many balance sheet accounts. My experience in accounting has helped prepare financial statements at a high level and close the monthly books timely.I am currently studying more data analytics skills, including Python, R, SQL, and PowerBI. I believe combing these skills with my accounting experience is a great asset. Through my accounting experience, I am able to understand the data at a high level while using these data analytics tools to dive deeper into the reason for each small trend in the data.
