I have been in the electrical engineering field for 28 years. I started my career in Zimbabwe as an electrical and electronics apprentice for Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) Holdings from 1995 to 1999. After completing my 4 year apprenticeship I worked for ZImbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company as a Distribution Electrician , Senior Electrician at Harare Power Station for Zimbabwe Power Company and Protection Technician for Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company between 1999 and 2008. I left for South Africa in 2008 and joined Relay Settings as an Electrical Technician. In 2009 I joined ABB South Africa as a Field Commissioning Technician for MV switch gear and in 2013 became a Proposals Engineer in Substation Automation systems. I hold an Advanced Electrical and Electronic Engineering Diploma from the City and Guilds of London, a Supervision and Management Diploma from the Zimbabwe Institute of Management and a Certificate in Project Administration from the University of Cape Town. I am a member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers. I have attended a lot of courses over the years in protection technology, Maintenance of power transformers, ABB MV circuit breakers, ABB protection relays, ABB RTUs, ABB MicroSCADA systems, and health and safety courses. In 2017 I founded and started Subprocon (Pty) Ltd which is an electrical engineering company which provides field services for testing and commissioning of electrical substation secondary and primary plant. We test and commission protection relays, control panels, indoor switchgear, CTs, VTs, circuit breakers, capacitor banks, and power transformers. Other field services that we provide are control cables installation and terminations in substations. I also design microprocessor controlled equipment and gadgets and software interfaces and I am currently developing some prototypes.
