3M Corporation /Imation (3M spinoff) 1988-2000Director of Enterprise Storage-Imation Following spin off from 3M had profit maximization responsibilities for all enterprise computer storage devices during transition from 3M to Imation. This included profit maximization, product strategy, business planning, product management, marketing, branding and business leadership for all B2B and OEM relationships. Business Team Leader (Product Manager)/Business Development Manager-3MThe business team leader was responsible for management of Data Cartridge product line. Data Cartridge was a highly profitable (2nd most profitable product within 3M) product line with revenues approaching $1B. Over the course of 2 years, the organization successfully introduced several new products, adding significant revenue and market share. Key areas were business planning, profit and loss, marketing, branding and manufacturing operations worldwide with operations in California, Japan and Germany. The business team had key success in patent portfolio management, contract negotiations, business modeling, and overall team leadership. The team leader personally managed B2B strategic partnerships with Apple, HP, Sony, Dell, Panasonic, Matsushita Kotobuki, Phillips and IBM. I personally led industry trade association marketing organization and public relations activities. Divisional QICR (Quality Improvement Cost Reduction) Manager-3MThe position led divisional project management efforts to improve quality and cost across product lines. The key component was the utilization of Six-Sigma techniques to drive targeted programs to achieve 35% improvements in cost and product quality. The programs extended to sales, manufacturing, vendors, out sourced vendors and all engineering operations.
