My responsibilities with EMC were to manage projects from data collection, solution design and the implementation of High Availability Data Center Recovery projects and Business Continuity Recovery. Once a solution was implemented it had to be user tested and certified. It was then turned over to operations support. My customer base was for some of the fortune 500 companies that included such corporations as Major League Baseball, TJX Corporation and the SEI Corporation.

My responsibilities and accomplishments included a broad array of technical expertise encompassing a full spectrum of end-to-end program management of advanced recovery services for multiple corporations. Responsibilities included implementing data mirroring for the client Tier1 & 2 applications. Many of the business sectors supported were banking, brokerage, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing. One account required multiple circuits from Portland, Oregon to New Jersey for data replication.Developed and implemented an innovative solution for a medical corporation in Cleveland, Ohio, this customer used a multi-location configuration topology. Initial rollout included an EMC DMX 3000 storage unit on the target side, which was later upgraded to a VMAX, (4 frames for a total of 35 TB of remote replicated data to a recovery center). This solution also included a large recovery network.Managed the full spectrum of services for the implementation of Data Domain replication solutions. This included customers such as Texas Windstorm Insurance, SunGard Recovery Services, New Hanover Medical Center, Sunpower Corporation, and Safety National Casualty Corporation.Managed several data replication projects for Avon Products. The latest solution utilizes a EMC VMAX, 5 frames and other storage units totaling over 300TB across multiple platforms. This project expanded via three separate network hardware and circuit upgrades to support the growth capacity requirements. Of which I planned and managed all the detail for the initial install and upgrades.

Responsible for developing a full disaster recovery plan for Blue Cross’ mainframe operations center. This included risk assessment of all critical applications.Managed the physical security of the corporate data center that included maintaining the card access system and video surveillance.Responsible for the annual disaster recovery budget exceeding 2.4 million. Responsibilities included solution design, documentation, implementation and managing all disaster recovery testing procedures for operations. All solutions were state of the art, which employed the latest technology and software.

Appointed first Manager of Disaster Recovery for the corporation.Responsibilities included developing initial disaster recovery plan for their corporate data center. This included risk analysis on the critical applications identified by management. The annual budget exceeded $1.5 million.Designed and managed a parallel operations center for ABC during Presidential and Mid-Term elections. This was to support the news reporting on the election days in 1984.
