Douglas is a former Cherwell ITSM Developer, an active web & desktop applications developer, and is currently retired in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Douglas' career began with aspirations of Software Development, and early on, found a world of opportunity surrounding the IT Service Management platform, "Cherwell Service Management". Beginning as a Customer Service rep working on the platform as a user, Douglas was able to heavily innovate on the platform and was recognized internally and promoted to the role of Application Administrator. It was from here that Douglas' career solidified and he began working solely as a developer and consultant on the Cherwell Service Management platform, finding that solutions surrounding this platform could incorporate proprietary internal code, Database solutions, external VB.NET / C# code, as well as integrations into Powershell, the local filesystem, and REST / SOAP API's.After reaching each of his career goals, Douglas found himself unfulfilled. The end/height of his career path; A house, a remarkably good salary, some fame within his industry. The DREAM! Still, Douglas was not exceptionally happy. From here, Douglas realized there was more to life than work. By chance, Doug found himself visiting Mexico to get braces at exceptionally low prices (as low as $100!). While there, his view of the world changed. Within two weeks, Doug was convinced - He was not living the dream. He had caught a glimpse of the world outside of the matrix, and he wasn't going to let it go.Douglas immediately applied for Mexican residency, returned home, and began selling his possessions.Listed the house for sale, packed bags of what would be important to take with, and like a madman, began offering up anything remaining that couldn't come with to neighbors and friends. These 'things' weren't important. Douglas saved up his income while continuing to work abroad, for another year or so, until he'd reached enough savings to retire early on a modest budget in what he found to be paradise.Douglas has escaped. Life is wonderful.
