Second in command onboard an Offshore Fisheries Research Vessel carrying up to 32 people.Key responsibilities include:* Standing a Navigation Watch.* Department head for Deck and Galley departments with 14 employees under my direct supervision.* Responsible for Safety and Security onboard the vessel as well as all onboard Occupational Health and Safety programs.* Assist with the procurement of all required supplies and equipment while working with the ship’s budget to meet financial goals.* Work with Bosun to develop work lists for routine operations and vessel maintenance periods.* Provide all necessary safety training to crew and scientists.* Currently implementing a new Material Safety Data Sheet system for the vessel.

Second in command onboard an Offshore Oceanographic Vessel carrying up to 82 people.Key responsibilities included:* Department head for Deck department with 12 Officers and crew under my supervision.* Supervised all onboard learning of Deck Cadets assigned to the vessel.* Responsible for all Safety and Security onboard the vessel, as well as all Occupational Health and Safety programs.* Liaise with shore side staff and scientists to oversee loading and discharging of equipment to ensure vessel was prepared to depart as per schedule.* Provided safety training to crew and scientists.

Held 2nd and 3rd Officer positions on Canadian Coast Guard vessels, which performed a wide range of operations.Key responsibilities included:* Standing Bridge watches at sea, at anchor and while in port, ensuring the safety and security of the vessel at all times.* Performed maintenance and inspections on lifesaving and firefighting equipment.* Maintained and updated all navigational charts and publications and implemented the use of the Maritime Chart Correction Register onboard 2 vessels.* Prepared passage plans as required.* Maintained and oversaw repairs to Bridge electronics.* Provided instruction and assistance to Cadets.
