    • Manufacturing Process Planning Engineer for the New Vectra Motor Compartment Main line at Body Shop; main challenge was to receive all sub-assemblies (Longitudinal Front, Dash, and Front Panel) and join them in a mix of manual/automatic assembly line. The Motor Compartment in that program was particularly important because due to product concept, that assembly drove all vehicle front (Hood, head lamps, fascia) dimensional and quality;• Responsible for developing a new plant lay out (manual operations over a platform) so that the automatic Respot line could have all robots on the ground with smaller robot bases. Plan and supervise the spot weld distribution across the assembly line, as well as some hard ergonomics issues due to very special welding guns to reach all the spot welds;• First program to have a new Program Gate Requirement called Run at Rate, which consisted in running for two hours the whole Body Shop to identify all process issues, material handling difficulties, etc.;• Huge welding issues in the beginning of plant installation and welding validation tests, due to huge Front Longitudinal thicknesses and some special materials applied to the product.

    • The Chevrolet Meriva was the first global program I participated, and it was really special because it was the first one developed by GM do Brasil and OPEL but it was launched first in Brazil.• Due to welding knowledge and manufacturing process skills got a huge responsibility in developing and installing the first Roof Laser Assembly Cell in the GM South America Region. For learning about the Laser welding process it was scheduled some training in Germany (Laser equipment supplier), OPEL plants and also some workshops in the USA about it. That allowed contact with a great number of global people;• Plan a Laser Welding Assembly cell for a low volume product in a plant that produced in the Body Shop six different models from three platforms was a risky but necessary goal;• Laser Welding Cell integration was made by Comau Italy, which drove to start an Italian language course.

    • Responsible for Motor Compartment Assembly area, including all sub-assemblies that would also be built at Sao Jose dos Campos Plant, for the Corsa Program Hatch Back and Sedan models;• The initial process planning was done by Hiramatsu Corporation from Japan, and as process planning engineer there was the responsibility of validating all assembly process planning, regarding automation level, production output, operators ergonomics, equipment specification, conveyors, lay out, assembly sequence, material handling, etc.;• Product Specification came from OPEL AG, and some modifications were done to meet Brazilian legal requirements, so had to contact OPEL engineers several times to discuss these modifications, as well as to understand some product specification.• A great challenge to implement this program was that all production goals and quality targets were compared to Germany plants and their numbers. These program were a great success in the Brazilian market. • Jan 1999- jan 2000: Process Planning Engineer - Chevrolet S10 Face Lift at Sao Jose dos Campos Plant• Manufacturing Process Engineer responsible for planning, welding fixtures construction supervising, equipment specification and purchasing, supplier follow up and technical discussions for the Radiator Support area for S10 2001 face lift program;• Great challenge at that time that the 2000-current model would continue being assembled in the same area, so all process should consider both models, what drove to some restricted conditions in the assembly process planning.
