Private equity. We are acquiring a portofolio of mobile home parks and recreational vehicle resorts in the western and midwestern US in the over 55 segment.

The bulk of the company's efforts have been concentrated in acquiring, financing and managing residential real estate (apartment, mobile home parks, etc.) and commercial land development. Net asset values reached a peak of $70+ million in 2006. Thie portfolio was liquidated in 2009-2010.

Under the aegis of the Merrill brand, I developed the use and market acceptance of what were then innovative financial instruments for public finance, including leveraged leases, short-term and commercial paper borrowing, floating rate debt (the latter two leading to the creation of the tax-exempt money market industry), foreign bank credit facilities,, guaranteed investment contracts and, from the mid '80's onward, derivatives and related arbitrage plays benefiting public entities.In the mid '80's when the use of derivatives began its phenomenal growth in all markets, I started and am generally credited with having invented the municipal derivatives market. This in turn led to creating an enormously profitable and rapidly growing business for Merrill Lynch, which included a $20 billion book of tax-exempt market based interest rate swaps and like derivatives and a 90%+ market share. The universal use of derivatives in the municipal market today exists because of those efforts.In the case of derivatives, we were able to reach these extraordinary benchmarks by expanding our client base, developing newer and more clever structures in response to an evolving market conditions, using carefully thoughtout and at the time untested hedging strategies to manage risk and running like hell to stay ahead of the pack, all of which it is said we accomplished with verve and panache and paramount to the survival of the effort, with great and continuing success.
