Over the last 15 years developing intelligent systems in the healthcare field, I've had the opportunity to hone my skills in rapid manufacturing, electrical and software engineering, user-centered design, and team leadership. During that time, I've also had the opportunity to work with some brilliant mentors and colleagues who share my passion for innovation towards making education more efficient and accessible. After completing my PhD in Bioengineering at Pitt, I started Lumis in order to translate my academic research into tools that can aid healthcare educators and providers on their mission to provide high quality patient care. Together, we've been able to scale the technology from a benchtop prototype to an enterprise-level training platform that utilizes augmented reality, sensors to measure user performance, and automated instruction. Our pilots with early adopters and clinical subject matter experts have seeded the platform with hundreds of learning modules across many clinical disciplines, and our current users continue to expand the content further using our recently deployed course authoring toolkit.

Senior Design ProjectUniversity Of Pittsburgh, Department Of Bioengineering Aug 2008 - Apr 2009With a team of 3 other classmates, I developed a prototype closed-loop control air mattress to help prevent bedsores--The SmartMattress. The system measured pressures felt by the patient and then used those measured pressures in order to actively control the stiffness of the mattress below any pressure "hot spots" that might cause bedsores.
