The Hoosier Lottery began selling lottery tickets on October 13, 1989, after a majority of Indiana citizens voted "yes" on a 1988 voter referendum. Indiana Downs (now Indiana Grand Casino) was a horse racing track with two off-track wagering facilities grossing $30 million; it has since added a 233,000 square food Las Vegas style gaming establishment.• Managed all month-end and year-end close functions and reconciliations of all accounts in accordance with GAAP, and prepared monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements with analysis and comment..• Led the annual budget process providing management solutions and alternatives, along with implementing accounting control procedures that ensured compliance in the regulatory environment.• Maintained the payroll process for up to 500 employees; prior to the addition of gambling, the track was losing $6-8 million, but through budget controls and good credit, was able to meet payroll while awaiting approval to add the casino.
