Served the majority of my time as the only Sr. Systems Engineer for the Platform Services team at Health First which also included acting in the capacity of Department Manager when our Manager was unavailable. Serve as Department Lead, Site Manager, and Subject Matter Expert in coordinating technical personnel and judiciously allocating resources to accommodate mission-critical needs. Manage more than 50 servers on 3 military networks, NIPR, SIPR, CX-I in a cross-platform environment, including Exchange Server systems for over 2,000 users on three enclaves, overseeing incremental backup storage procedures, and day-to-day upkeep of more than 40 servers valued at $6 million. Administer client systems including Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7, as well as services including Microsoft Exchange, WSUS, Active Directory, file and print servers, and system backups.– Noteworthy Accomplishments –• Completed $2 million rebuild and redesign project of the FOB Salerno network within two months of hire, becoming the first base in Afghanistan to bring new equipment online.• Successfully completed a large-scale migration of several enterprise services to a virtual environment utilizing VMware servers, expansion of SAN storage arrays, and implementation of storage rules and threshold limits.• Increased manageability, scalability, and security by leading the migration, as well as coordinating services from Windows Server 2003 to Windows 2008R2 on all network assets.• Enhanced business continuity by leading the build-out of a warm site for disaster recovery and upgrade of several thousand computers from Windows XP to Windows 7.• Served as the Acting Site Lead for all of FOB Salerno during a one-month period, which due to a movement in closure dates, resulted in a great deal of additional work and duties to help prepare the site for closure.• Delivered training for stood up and managed a Pearson Vue testing center to allow soldiers and civilians on the base to expand their skill set and gain valuable certifications and job skills prior to returning home.• Maximized systems availability by responding to 24/7critical situations to ensure mission coverage.
