I direct the PhD program in Writing and Rhetoric at George Mason University. I also administer the undergraduate Writing Minor, and the undergraduate concentration in Writing and Rhetoric in the English major. I teach courses in technical and professional writing, digital rhetoric, and computer-aided design and publication. Currently Senior Editor of the online, peer-reviewed academic journal Kairos: Rhetoric, Technology, Pedagogy (http://kairos.technorhetoric.net), I have over two decades of experience as an editor, project manager, and designer of digital texts. I have worked as a consultant, writer, editor, and web designer and also spent seven years as a systems administrator and technology trainer at a mid-size community college.My current research interests include digital literacies, new media scholarship, electronic publication, information design/information architecture, teaching in digital environments, videogames as writing spaces, and technical and professional communication. My book, Digital Rhetoric: Theory, Method, Practice (forthcoming from University of Michigan Press) is situated in the area of digital rhetoric (which I see as a field related to but distinct from computers and writing and professional/technical writing) looks at new methodologies for research in digital rhetoric, with applications in professional writing, computer-supported cooperative work, informatics, and composition.Specialties: Writing, Editing & Publishing, Research, Project Management, Documentation, Usability
