About Douglas Gardiner

I am someone who loves to solve problems. Initially this came from my solving puzzles when I was younger and now I enjoy figuring out to best solve a problem by looking at it from different angles. Using the same mentality, I keep myself well-rounded to offer multiple perspectives when working on a problem or project. My experiences in sports have taught me that working in a team requires patience and understanding so that the team as a whole can move forward towards its goal. While my studies are focused in the environmental studies I have a heavy background in mathematics, physics and economics as well as a basic background in engineering. My current goal is to find a position in data science, environmental policy, or in renewable energy that combines my passion for the environment with my mathematical background so that I can try to tackle some of the larger problems the world faces.

Quickly learned Python over the initial project period without prior knowledge. Presented and showcased research findings to both the National Park Service at Shenandoah National Park and NASA Langley and answered questions from these agencies. The findings were then utilized by the National Park Service for outreach and marketing purposes.
